Alex Coupe – Coach | Counsellor

Professional background and qualifications

I am a qualified counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and am registered with the Australian Counselling Association (Level 1 Accredited). I am due to complete my Master’s in Counselling in early 2026. I am also an accredited coach with a Diploma of Coaching (ICF Level 2) and hold a BA (Hons) and a Post Graduate Diploma (Marketing).

My work is grounded in a person-centred and integrative approach, meaning sessions are shaped around you - your experiences, needs, and pace. I place strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and on creating a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and emotionally safe. I draw on a blend of evidence-informed approaches, including:

  • person-centred therapy

  • emotion-focused principles

  • strengths-based and solution-focused practices

  • CBT-informed strategies

  • reflective and insight-oriented work

ABOUT ME

Rather than applying a single model, I thoughtfully integrate these approaches to best support you. Some sessions are more reflective and insight-focused; others are more practical or grounding. The aim is to support emotional clarity, steadiness, and meaningful change, without pressure or judgement.

Alongside my therapeutic and coaching training, I bring experience from senior leadership roles within the health and biopharmaceutical sector. This gives me a strong understanding of workplace pressure, performance expectations, leadership challenges, and the personal impact of career progression, transition, or prolonged stress.

I also have experience in school-based counselling, supporting adolescents with anxiety, disengagement from education, study pressure, and emerging identity concerns. Together, these experiences allow me to support clients with both emotional insight and practical understanding, particularly during periods of change, uncertainty, or high responsibility.

People often come to see me when they’re functioning on the outside but struggling internally — feeling emotionally overloaded, uncertain about themselves, or disconnected from who they used to be. Some are navigating significant transitions in work, relationships, parenting, or identity; others are dealing with ongoing stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or burnout that’s begun to affect their wellbeing, confidence, or direction.

Who I support

I work with adults and teens (16+) who may be experiencing one or more of the following:

  • anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm

  • burnout, exhaustion, or chronic pressure

  • low confidence, self-worth concerns, and imposter feelings

  • identity shifts and life transitions

  • relationship or family challenges

  • emotional regulation and coping difficulties

  • school- or study-related stress, anxiety, or disengagement

  • career uncertainty, workplace stress, leadership or performance pressures

Clients don’t need to fit neatly into a category — many experience a combination of these concerns, particularly during periods of change or increased responsibility.
